Alexander married Sarah Sutton (Price) in 1882. Together they had the following children:
Larence Sutton;
Twila Sutton.

He died on December 2, 1923 in Carthage, Jasper County, Missouri, United States and was buried on December 4, 1923 in Olympus Cemetery, Grove, Delaware County, Oklahoma, United States.
