[Barr.GED] Born in Pickaway Co OH in 1815. Moved to White Co., IN in 1830 with parents. Married Mariah Marquiss in 1841 who was from Darke Co OH. Came to IA in 1854 and owned a farm in Adams Twp. He patented 1/4 section and afterwards doubled his possession. His home consisted of 160 acres of excellent land. Politically, he was a republican. He was a man of fine business ability, and has made life a success by exercise of good judgement in the management of his affairs. He is recognized as a leader, both socially and politically, ranks among the progressive farmers of the Co.. His home is a hospitable place where may always be found an abundance of good cheer, and the genial proptietor stands deservedly high in the esteem and confidence of a large circle of acquaintances.
