From research of David L Sadler: Oneida Daily Dispatch--Alfred Butler Died Dec 30 1939 OBIT: Alfred Butler, Machinist, Dies of Heart Attack--Motor Company Employee Collapses While Talking w/Shop Worker--Alfred H Butler of 439 Sconondoa St, expert machinist & veteran employee of Merrell Morot Co, Inc, 116 Vanderbilt Av, dropped dead there abt 11:30 this morning. Coroner Preston was summoned. Mr Butler apparently in best of health had left machine shop on 2nd floor of bldg few min bef being stricken. Aft going to office he walked to shop & was talking w/another employee when he collapsed. Mr Butler had worked in various shops in city bef joining former Coles Tool & Machine Co. When Mr Merrell went in business for himself Mr Butler affilliated w/him, taking chg of machine shop. For yrs, Mr Butler was mbr of call branch of Fire Dept, serving as capt of hose unit. He resigned several yrs ago. Surviving are wife, Mrs Ella M Butler & 1 son, Sterling Butler, both of Oneida.
