About Alfred Adolph Compton
Alfred Compton, originally known as Adolf Chomet, was born and raised in Vienna. He was able to emigrate out of Vienna in 1938, a very difficult and dangerous times for Jews. After leaving with his family from Vienna, he settled in Cleveland where he worked as a flower and balloons salesman, married and had two daughters and a son (Sally, Donna, Zev Compton)
ALFRED COMPTON, a resident of Montifiore died on Oct 15 1990 at the age of 73. Born in Vienna Austria, he emigrated to Cleveland in 1930.He owned and operated Al's Flowers Inc at the West Side Market for about 25 years, retiring in the early 1980s. Prior to this he worked for the former National Tool Company of Cleveland. He was a member of Heights Jewish Center and its Men's Club. He was the widower of Adele Compton. Survivng are a son Zev Compton; daughters, Sally Kaufman od Ankara Turkey and Donna Friedman of Allendale NJ; 12 greandchildren; and brothers Bernard Chomet of Ann Arbor Michigan and Leo Chomet of Kiriat ata israel.
