United States War of 1812 Index to Service Records, 1812-1815, database with images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:Q29V-1LDY : 12 March 2018), Alfred Converse, 1812-1815; citing NARA microfilm publication M602 (Washington, D.C.: National Archives and Records Administration, n.d.); roll 45; FHL microfilm 882,563.

An Alfred Converse fought in the War of 1812. He was a private in the 4th Reg't. (Williams) Vermont militia. A Converse family has long lived in Cattaraugus County, New York, and may have removed from Vermont to New York after the War, like many of the other settlers of that area. Many moved on after the logging slowed down and went further west.
