About Alfred C Isaacks
Alfred C Isaacks was born October 31, 1820 in either Amite or Pike Coounty, Mississippi to Elijah and Esther Donaho Isaacks. He came to Texas in a covered wagon in Jan 1822, when he was one year old. At that time Texas still belonged to Mexico.
He grew up in Jasper County, Texas and was only 15 years old in 1836 when the Texas Revolution was going on. It is currently unknown if he participated, but it is not unlikely as the rest of his brothers did.
On March 17, 1842, he married Sarah Beatty Powell in Jasper County, Republic of Texas. Together, they had fourteen children, David Monroe, John Tyler, Elijah Jefferson, Andrew Franklin, Elisha Madison, Sarah Ann, Susan Marry, Martha Ann, William Davis, Betty Johnson, Alfred Washington, Willie Grover and a set of twins that did not live.
Sometime after 1850, Alfred and his family moved to Tarkington Praire, Liberty County, Texas with his brother Andrew Jackson Isaacks.
In 1861, he enlisted in the Confederate Army and served as a Private in Company D, Texas 15th Cavalry Regiment.
After the Civil War, he served as a county judge and worked as a surveyor, rancher and realtor. He lived the remainder of his life in Liberty County.
