About Alfred Wilson Killgrove
Alfred Killgrove was born in Cutler, Perry County, Illinois, to Albert K. Killgrove and Nancy Jane Higgerson Killgrove, on November 10, 1870. He married Mollie Slusher (November 18, 1871—February 28, 1960) on December 10, 1890. Their children were:
1. Frank Killgrove, born September 26, 1891
2. Beulah May Killgrove, born February 6, 1893
3. Otis A. Killgrove, born January 24, 1895
4. Florence Killgrove, born January 6, 1898
5. May M. Killgrove, born April, 1900
6. Lela Margret Killgrove, born April 29, 1900
7. Alfred Harold Killgrove, born July 24, 1902
8. Theodore W. Killgrove, born c. 1909
9. Kenneth Killgrove, born November 24, 1911
10. Alvera Killgrove, born c. 1914
11. Norma Killgrove, born November 20, 1915
12. Roy V. Killgrove, born April 11, 1918
May is accounted for in the 1900 census, but not in 1910 or 1920. It is reasonable to assume that she died sometime before 1910, or, more probable, that Lela and sister May might, in fact, be the same person.
Alfred Killgrove died on November 14, 1960.
From the Southern Illinoisan, November 14, 1960:
