Alfred Reeves was born in TN, as evidenced by federal census data. We speculate that he may have been born in Davidson County, TN, as his father James [ca. 1780 - ca. 1845] may have been in Davidson County at the time of Alfred's birth due to James' aged grandmother, Mary Jordan, being alive at the time [1809]. James may have lingered in Davidson Couty until after his aged grandmother passed this life. If James Reeves moved his family to Hickman County before Alfred's birth, we would then speculate that Alfred [1809] was born in Hickman County, TN.
Alfred Reeves married Parthenia White[1807 - ] ca. 1827/28. The parents of Alfred Reeves were James Reeves [ca. 1783 - ca. 1845] and Mary "Polly" Gower [ca. 1781- ]. The Parents of Parthenia White were Charles White, Jr. [ca. 1770 - ca. 1847] and Leah Rubottom.
The residences of Alfred Reeves include the following locales: 1820 = Hickman County, TN; Dec., 1828 = Hickman County, TN [the occasion: birth of G. W. Reeves]; 1830 = Clinton, De Witt, Illinois; 1836 = Hickman County, TN [Registered taxpayer in county]; 1840 = Hickman County, TN; 1842 = Hickman County, TN [occasion: birth of son Ervin M. Reeves in July, 1842]; 1850: Hickman County, TN; March, 1856: Humphreys County, TN [occasion: purchase of 66 acres].
Alfred Reeves passed this life prior to 18 Oct 1859. A land deed in Humphreys County, TN [deed book "o", page 446], in which one of his heirs sold interest in the 66 acres to another of his heirs after his death, is dated 18 Oct 1859. Alfred is specifcally identified as deceased in this deed. According to James Talmadge Reeves, Jr. [J. T.], an older gentleman now living in Humphreys County, TN, having once owned the 66 acre plot of land that Alfred Reeves purchased in March, 1856, Alfred Reeves was murdered in Pegram, Cheatham, TN, as he traveled to Nashville, TN.
We speculate that Alfred Reeves is buried in Mays Cemetery, approximately 6 miles SW of Waverly, TN, about 1/8 mile east of Bakerville Road running from Waverly, TN., located immediately south of the Duck River bridge. Please read the biographical information given under the entry for George Washington Reeves [1828 - ca. 1901], who was buried in this same cemetery, for the basis of our speculation. Mays Cemetery was the natural place to bury Alfred Reeves.* Reference: Find A Grave Memorial - SmartCopy: Jul 14 2020, 19:06:16 UTC
