Thagard, Alfred D., 79, of Whitehall, on May 30, 2010, at home. Beloved husband for 50 years to Margaret Jean (Olzer); father of Robert (Jennifer), James (Wendy) and Susan Henry (Andy); grandfather of Julius, Erin, Byrdie, Elin, August and Greta. Born in Springfield, MA, the youngest of five sons to Robert M. and Mary (Fitzgerald) Thagard. Al served in the U.S. Navy, graduated from both the University of Massachusetts and Duquesne University. After retiring in 1992 as an engineer at Westinghouse Bettis, Al enjoyed summers at Deep Creek Lake, MD and winters in New Smyrna Beach, FL. He enjoyed golf, sailing and biking with his family and friends, and was active in community organizations.
