About Alfreda Poglitsch
http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/hartfordcourant/obituary.aspx?n=al...
Alfreda (Parent) Poglitsch, 84, beloved wife of Louis Poglitsch, was called to the Lord on Sunday (February 2, 2003). She passed away suddenly in the comfort of her home after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She joins her son, Kenneth (Kenny) in heaven, who predeceased her on February 26, 2002. Alfreda was born in Van Buren, ME on May 6, 1918. She left Van Buren to seek employment and settled in New Britain where she met Louis. Married at St. Peters Church on February 25, 1943, they would have celebrated their 60th anniversary this month. Besides being a devoted wife and mother, Freda worked for many years as a teacher's aide for the New Britain school system. Until a couple of years ago, Alfreda was an active member of St. Peter's Church and the Ladies Guild, holding many offices from treasurer to president. She unselfishly donated untold hours of her time and talents, sewing and baking for church fund raisers and elderly shut-ins. She was truly a special lady. Besides her husband, Alfreda is survived by two sons, Dennis Poglitsch and his wife Geraldine, James Poglitsch and his companion Marcie Matuszak, both of New Britain; a daughter, Elaine Jendrzejczyk and her husband Leon of Manchester; four grandchildren, Jeff Poglitsch of Vernon, Beth Nori and her husband Rino of Norwalk, Robin Viadella and her husband Ted of Bozrah, and Paul Jendrzejczyk of Manchester; her friend and sister-in-law Gisela Toth of Plainville; and a sister, Juliette Coye of Weston, MA. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews. Alfreda's family wishes to thank Plainville Hospice for the incredible care they have given her throughout this long ordeal. Special thanks to Beata, Ann, Eileen, Diane, and Theresa among many others. They are truly angels of mercy! The funeral will be held Wednesday, February 5, at 10:30 a.m. from Farrell Funeral Home, 110 Franklin Square, New Britain, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. at St. Peter's Church, Franklin Square, New Britain. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home TODAY, Tuesday, February 4 from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Plainville Hospice, 40 East St., Plainville, CT 06062.
