No basis as Ales Whytmore, died 1641, daughter of John Whytmore
At one time, the profile had reported Alice as "Ales Whytmore," who died Braintree, September 29, 1641; she was further said the daughter of John Whytmore.
William Allen's first wife could not have died in 1641. On 24 September 1645 ("24th of 7th mo. 1645"), William Allen testified, in part, "...And my wife Als departed this life about the eight of first mo. 1631/32."[6] Her death as such is found recorded in the Salem vital records.[7] William Allen had married again by 1634.[8]
Quite separately, the wife of a different early Allen settler, Samuel Allen of Braintree, had a wife Ann (sometimes called Ann Whitmore) who died at that place on 29 September 1641.[9] Torrey reported about the Samuel-Ann marriage as "Samuel Allen (-1669) and 1/wf Ann [?Whitmore] (-1641)" the marriage was "by 1632" with a location reference of Braintree.[10]
The two marriages occurred about the same time. It seems likely that somewhere along the way, a well meaning family historian confused information about the spouses, so that William's wife took on some of the identity (name, death data) otherwise about Samuel's wife. See WikiTree's reporting about Samuel Allen and his wife as Ann (Whitmore) Allen, reporting her death 1641 at Braintree, Norfolk, Massachusetts.

There has been speculation that William Allen was the William born 23 Mar 1610/11 in Yarmouth, England, son of William Allen and Ales Whytmore, but there is no evidence to connect the two, and William Allen of Salisbury is often confused with William Allen of Manchester (d. 1678, husband of Alice).[1]
