About Alice Forslin
Alice F. Forslin, 87, formerly of West Oak Hill Road, Jamestown, passed away Monday, Nov. 3, 2008, at the Shore Winds Nursing Home in Rochester, N.Y. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, George Arthur Forslin, whom she married July 13, 1943, and who died May 25, 2004.
Alice was born June 8, 1921, in Jamestown, the daughter of the late Leslie Fox and Bernice Fox Markham. She was a 1939 graduate of Jamestown High School and attended Jamestown Community College.
She first joined the staff of the former Marine Midland Bank (HSBC) in 1952 as a secretary and subsequently helped administer the bank's student loan program. She was appointed manager of the bank's Fluvanna Avenue office where she remained until her retirement in 1984.
Always active in civic affairs, she was a past president of the Fluvanna PTA and former vice president of the local National Secretaries Association. She was a member of the Jamestown Business and Professional Women's Club, American Institute of Banking and numerous social clubs. Following retirement, she served as treasurer of the Jamestown Chapter of AARP for several years. Alice was a member of Kidder Memorial United Methodist Church.
Surviving are two daughters: Linda Bisgaard of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Mary Trostle (Mark) of Spencerport, N.Y.; a son, George A. Forslin Jr. (MaryAnne) of Albany, N.Y.; three grandchildren: Timothy Trostle (Janine) of Brockport, N.Y., Robert Trostle of Royal Oak, Mich., and Jennifer Bauch (Timothy) of Brockport; five great-grandchildren: David, Alexander, Katherine and Joseph Trostle and Jayden Bauch, all of Brockport; and a brother, Roger Fox (Marie) of Tennessee.
