Mark BROWN, Sr.: will March 9, 1769, proved in Anne Arundel County on June 23, same year (Wills, Liber 37, folio 198).

He bequeathed his grandson, Francis Hardisty son of Francis Hardisty and son of my eldest daughter now Alice Duvall; negro slaves, and to his grandson, Mary BROWN Sappington, the eldest son of Captain Thomas Sappington and Frances his wife, he devised 'Neal's Delight' of 270 acres. The residue of his personal estate was to be divided equally between his two daughters, Frances Sappington and Alice Duvall, and at their decease the husbands of his daughters were to claim no portion of his personal estate, but it was to be divided among his grandchildren. Lewins Duvall and his wife Alice, with Francis Sappington, closed the estate of Mark BROWN on June 14, 1775, reporting a balance of 681/7/5 to be distributed between the heirs. West Burgess and Rezin Mobberly were sureties. (Adm. Accts. Liber 72, folio 259).
