About Alice Harris

Thomas Harris 1614-1677 married this Alice West in 1635 in England. She was transported from London to Charles City in 1635 aged 21. She was dead by 1677 as his widow was named Yvett that administered his estate in Mar 1677. There are no extant Charles City records that name any of the children of this Thomas Harris d1677 and Alice West, only that there were unnamed minor children when he died.

Alice was of unknown parents. There has been found a record of an Alice West born and christened in Staurton, the ancestral home of the royal West family in 1614.

She was not the daughter of Lt. Col. Nathaniel West He did not marry until 1621, he died shortly before Feb 1623/4 & had only the one son. (Richardson's Magna Carta Ancestry/Royal Ancestry)

This family was discussed in Historical Southern Families by Boddie Vol 3 page 12. More recent evidence, including DNA test results, demonstrate that this source is not accurate for the five "Thomas Harris" families of early Virginia.

This record may be this Alice West, but there is no correct information in it: No John West and Alice Claibourne in Geni. Not born in Charles City Virginia. (jecpj, curator, 20 feb 2018)
