About Alice A. Larimer
Wife of Noah M. Larimer. Daughter of William Henry Maple and Sarah Cowgill
OBITUARY
THE CHARITON HERALD-PATRIOT Chariton, Iowa Thursday, August 16, 1923
MRS. ALICE LARIMER
With great regret we note the passing away of Mrs. Alice Larimer, which occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Elnora Wilson, 217 North 13th St., on Friday evening, August 10, 1923, at 9 o'clock, after an extended illness.
A few years ago she had the misfortune to fall and break her hip, and later fell and broke her wrist. These accidents, coupled with heart trouble, caused her intense suffering at times, which was borne with great patience and fortitude.
Everything possible was done to restore her to health, and loving hands ministered to her wants and comfort, but the all-wise Father saw fit to remove her to the heavenly home, and she peacefully entered into rest on Friday evening.
Largely attended funeral services, conducted by Rev. J. A. Pettit, of Des Moines, until recently of our city, were held at the First Baptist church on Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock, after which the remains were tenderly laid to rest in the Chariton cemetery. The floral tributes were profuse and beautiful and bore testimony to the high regard in which she was held as well as sympathy for the bereaved ones.
Alice A. Maple, daughter of William H. and Sarah Maple, was born in Peoria county, Illinois, near Peoria, on August 6, 1843. She came with her parents to Iowa when she was about twelve years old, locating on a farm near Russell, where she grew to young womanhood and where she was married on Dec. 26, 1864, to Mr. Noah Larimer. To them one daughter was born, Mrs. Elnora Wilson of this city, who survives her.
Mrs. Larimer had been a member of the Baptist church from early girlhood and was an active and faithful worker until she met with the accident which befell her, and was afterward confined to her home.
Always bright and cheerful herself, she ever sought by word and deed, to bring sunshine into the lives of others, and the remembrance of her good life will be an inspiration to all who knew her.
She was the last surviving member of her family. Besides the daughter mentioned above she leaves in bereavement two granddaughters, Mrs. Eloise Robb of Tecumseh, Nebr., and Mrs. Vera Mason, of Des Moines, also two little great grandchildren, Harry and Mary Alice Robb, all of whom will have the sympathy of a host of friends.
