Thomas Barrington was knighted by Queen Elizabeth and was sheriff of Essex and Hertfordshire in the fourth year of her reign and member of Parliament for the county of Essex in her fourth Parliament and fourteenth year of her reign. He was married twice, his first wife was Alice daughter of Lord Morley, by whom he had one daughter, Elizabeth, who married Edward Harris of Upminster in the county of Essex, Esquire.

He married firft, Elizabeth daughter of Sir Francis [SIC: Thomas] Barrington; and to his Fecond wife, Anne daughter of Henry Jofceline of Torrell's hall, widow* of Sir Robert Lee. By this laft he had, Arthur, who dyed 1 June 1588, and Anne. By the firft he had Sir Francis Harrys, of Southminfter, whofe wife was Elizabeth, daughter of Edward Sulyard of Flemyngs in Runwell: and by her he had one daughter, married to ... Laurence, M.D.
