About Alice Antica Radonich

ALICE ANTICA RADONICH

Alice Antica Radonich was born on the 24th March 1912 at Riverhead. She was the second eldest of the 11 brothers and sisters.

As such her position enabled, her parents to rely on her to assist in bringing up the younger children. She attended school in Riverhead and Helensville.

As a solo mum on the 14th July 1936 she presented a daughter Pamela Anne to all her brothers, sisters and her parents who all gave her tremendous support

During her work career she was sent. For wwn service to work as household staff at the Esplanade Hotel in Devonport. Later she worked as a cook at Pentlands maternity Hospital and following this as a cook at Wilson's Crippled Home.

Alice was also in demand as a cook and housekeeper, For New Zealand's richest man (at the time) Mr. Berridgr Spencer and later on to Mr. JJ Jones, owner of the huge produce markets on Auckland’s waterfront.

Alice married Jack Stevens in March 1955. Jack was a physiotherapist. The couple lived in Devonport and Takapuna. This was only for a very short time as Jack died of cancer after only 8 years of marriage.

After Jacks death Alice concentrated her time working and baby-sitting a very long list of her nieces and nephews. A1so much sort after by the family to cook the all-Important wedding and birthday cakes.

As a person, Alice was very loving to her family and always concerned herself with them. If she had anything she would readily share what she had with them. .

Alice was a very private and undemanding person and as going to print October 1999 as Alice moves towards her 88th year sadly it is with Dementia, - But still a Lady.
