Alice Weaver Shuler, 99-1/2, of Shenandoah, passed away on Sunday morning, January 25, 2015, at Willow Estates Assisted Living, Penn Laird.

She was born on June 7, 1915, in Hagerstown, Md.,

and was the daughter of the late Eugene Albert and Etta Mae Comer Weaver of Luray.

Mrs. Shuler was united in marriage to Edward Owen Shuler of Shenandoah on April 5, 1938. Her husband preceded her in death on August 5, 1994. They lived most of their married life on the farm where he was born. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Carl Weaver; and her sister, Helen W. Fox.

Mrs. Shuler is survived by two daughters, Doris and husband John M. Stone of Mount Crawford, and Martha and husband Roger L. Eisinger of Fairfax Station, Va.; four granddaughters, Karen and husband Mark Dotson of New Market, Judy and husband Douglas Jernigan of Winston-Salem, Suzy and husband Adrian Escalante of Frisco, Texas, and Heather and husband Mike Wnuk of Spring-field, Va.; three great-grandchildren, Amanda and Andrew Dotson of New Market, and Lena Wnuk of Springfield; and a sister-in-law, Anna Belle Harner of Elkton.

She was a graduate of Luray High School and was a charter member of the Grove Hill Friendship Club organized in 1963. She served as its treasurer for 44 years. She was employed by Page County Public Schools for 25 years. She and her husband were members of the Waynesboro-Staunton Antique Car Club and enjoyed many trips in their antique cars. Mrs. Shuler was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Shenandoah, where she was a former Sunday school teacher, Bible School Superintendent and choir member. She enjoyed traveling in the United States and Europe with her family and working in her flower beds and vegetable gardens.

The family received friends at the Lindsey-Kyger Funeral Home in Shenandoah on Tuesday, January 27, 2015. The casket was closed.

A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 28, 2015, at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Shenandoah, with Pastors Mark Briel and Phyllis Diamond officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. The family also received friends after the service.
