About Allen Hugh Crawford

Allen H. Crawford joined his two WW II B-17 crews and many family members who preceded him on their final flight heaven bound, Saturday September 23, 2017, following a miraculous and unexpected rally of health for an additional 54 days and 11 hours with the loving and skilled care of his wife of 28 years Amalia Kane-Crawford and Hospice of Chattanooga.

​ Allen served his country well his entire life having volunteered just after high school graduation to fight in WW II for his country. He joined the U.S. Army Air Corps and was trained as a bombardier and navigator. His war effort resulted in 35 high altitude heavy bombardment missions over Europe including the United States “maximum effort” bombing mission over Berlin in 1945 with Allen as navigator. Allen continued his active membership in the 401st Bomb Group Association and as Director on the Board of Directors until his death.
​ Allen is the proud father of 3 sons, stepfather to 2 sons and 2 daughters, grandfather to 14 grandchildren and great grandfather to 8 great grandchildren. Allen resided with his wife Amalia Kane-Crawford in Flintstone, Georgia since 2007. Family was of the utmost importance to Allen and he was rewarded with their expressions of love, respect and interest showered upon him. Allen was most appreciative of the many friends he has found since moving to Flintstone in 2007, as well as the many long lasting relationships spanning 80 years. Allen is a published author of two books: “The Way It Was”, 2 volumes, produced by Rick Savasten and “The Soldier….The Man”….; a journey through the life of Paul Sardo Frank, Sr.; Lt. Col., Infantry, United States Army and survivor of 3 wars encompassing 9 years in combat zones...WW I, WW II, and Korea.

​Allen is a former special agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Founder and President of three investigative and security firms located in Washington, D.C., Miami, and Tallahassee, Florida; Corporate Director of Security for Playboy Enterprises, Chicago and a nationally recognized security expert retained professionally to testify in courts specific to premises liability, assaults, rapes and homicides. Allen was appointed Senior Agent in Charge of the Miami office, Inspector General, U.S. Department of Health, Education and Welfare (HEW) directing a ten Special Agent task force investigating Medicare fraud and abuse in the Home Health industry specific to the State of Florida. Allen graduated from Marshall University, Huntington, West Virginia with B.S. in Business Administration & Personnel Management in 1951. In 1991, Allen completed his M.S. degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Florida International University, Miami, Florida.

​Allen was an active member in many national professional organizations including locally the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 3679, Rossville, Georgia since 2007, and Member of the American Legion, Post 40, Ringgold, Georgia since 2008. Allen was selected as Walker County Veteran of the Year 2014.

​The family of Allen extends appreciation to the skills and caring hearts of the Hospice professionals: CNA Mary Asher, CNA Carol Leach, CNA Kim P., and R.N. Nikki Maun and, R.N. Margaret Grimsley. Also, Chaplain Pat and Social Worker Lynn Tyree and all those behind the scenes who made every effort to contribute to Allen's comfort.
