Alma LaVerne Lamb Petersen, 88, died Friday, August 18, 2006 at McKay Dee Hospital in Ogden following a massive stroke. Born January 23, 1918, in Myton, UT to Floyd E. and Janet Hill Lamb. Attended schools in Myton and Roosevelt, and University of Utah, where she graduated with a degree in Home Economics in 1938. She got a job teaching school in Hinckley. While in Hinckley, she met Homer U. Petersen. They married June 7, 1939 in Salt Lake City and later sealed in the Manti temple. They had 65 years of happiness together. Exemplified, to their family, the epitome of an ideal marriage. Homer died nearly two years ago on August 31, 2004. Alma and Homer spent most of their married life in Delta, then became snowbirds with homes in Provo and Phoenix. Alma was visiting her granddaughter, Michelle Larsen, in Layton at the time of her death. Was a wonderful, caring and exemplary mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Survived by her daughters: Patricia (Larry) Ashby, Provo; Kathryn (Edward) Cole, Tempe, AZ; Beverly (James) DeWyze, Delta; and Marilyn Stewart, Gilbert, AZ; 16 grandchildren; and 40 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by husband, parents, brothers: Rex and Ray, grandson: Matthew Stewart, and son-in-law: Dale Stewart. Services: Friday, Aug. 25, 11 a.m. at Gunnison Bend Ward in Hinckley, UT. Visitation Thurs from 7-8:30 p.m. at Nickle Mortuary, Delta, and Friday, 9:30-10:45 a.m. at church. Burial Delta cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family encourages donations to LDS Church's Perpetual Education Fund. (LDS Philanthropies; PO Box 27188; Provo, Utah 84602-7188.)
