Amon H. Barton, son of Ozias Preston Barton and Rachel Massie, was born Sept. 5, 1849 in Knox Co., Illinois. He married 1st with SARAH ELIZABETH GOFORTH on Dec. 7, 1871 in McDonough Co., Illinois. She died Jan 12, 1889 in Knox Co., Illinois and is buried at Hermon Christian Church Cemetery, Hermon, Knox Co., Illinois. He married on June 7, 1890 in Knox Co., Illinois with CLARA E. GOFORTH, dau. of WIlliam P. Goforth and Nancy E. McGrew. She died Mar. 6, 1900; he died Apr. 6, 1927 in Wichita, Sedgwick Co., Kansas. Both buried at Sego Cemetery, Pretty Prairie, Reno Co., Kansas.

Chidren were (by Sarah): Charles R. (1873-1905), Lina Emily (1877-1918; m. Adams), Lida E. (1879-1959; m. McClellan), Cordelia R. (1881-1967; m. Dunkin), Harley Alpheus (1883-1946), and William Richard (1886-1967).
