Alta Bernice (Hankins) Ruble, 88, Milroy, died Saturday at Hillside Haven Nursing Home, Rushville. She had family members living in Shelby County.

Born May 17, 1909, in Rush County, she was the daughter of Oley and Rena (Sweezy) Hankins. On Feb. 14, 1926, she married Vernon Lee Ruble, and he died Sept. 28, 1968.

Mrs. Ruble was a homemaker.

Survivors include six daughters, Mrs. Charles (Rosemary) Wildey and Mrs. Jesse (Betty) Shook, both of Milroy, Mrs. James (Nancy) Cloud, Rushville, Mrs. Cecil (Bonnie) Wagner, Arlington, Mrs. Kenneth (Shirley) Means, Greensburg, and Mrs. Paul (Donna) Makofka, Laurel; a son, Jim Ruble, Rushville; two sisters, Nellie Wise and Faye Mathews, both of Greensburg; 31 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by two sons.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Milroy Christian Church with the Rev. Ron Simbro officiating. Burial will be in Eastbrook Cemetery, Milroy.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Burns Funeral Home, Milroy.
