About Alvera C. Boos
Alvera Boos, 72, of Greeley died Sunday, June 16, at the Hospice and Palliative Care of Northern Colorado Inpatient Unit in Greeley.
She was born Feb. 8, 1930, in Hays, Kan., to Jacob and Amelia (Werth) Haas.
She graduated from Marion Girls Catholic School in Hays, Kan., and married Gilbert Boos in Hays on Aug. 29, 1950.
In 1953, Vera and Gilbert moved to the Longmont area to farm. In 1954, they moved to Greeley. She was active with St. Peter's Catholic Church and was the school lunch program manager for St. Peter's School for 18 years. She also was active as a Girl Scout leader, a den mother for the Boy Scouts, a member of S. Peter's Church Altar and Rosary Society, the PTA and the Ladies Auxiliary. She also enjoyed working in her flower garden, baking and caring for family and visitors.
Survivors are her husband, Gilbert Boos of Greeley; two sons, Thomas Boos of Greeley and Brian Boos of Wellington; two daughters, Sherry Dougan of Sedalia, Mo., and Mary Lou Quaco of Greeley; two step-grandchildren; and six grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Willy Haas.
The mass of the Christian Burial is at 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 19, at St. Peter's Historic Catholic Church. Recitation of the Rosary is at 7 p.m., today at Allnutt Funeral Service-Macy Chapel. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Greeley. Friends and family may visit from 4-6 p.m. today at Allnutt Funeral Service-Macy Chapel.
In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to Hospice of Northern Colorado in care of Allnutt Funeral Service, 702 13th St., Greeley.
