She was married to George Washington Byrd on December 17, 1870 in Albany, Clinton Co., Kentucky. Later divorced but remarried him on December 6, 1876 in the same place. They had six children: John Thomas, Nancy, Julia A., Rosanna, Lewis and Claudia.

Amanda and her children left Kentucky and moved to Erath Co., Texas to be close to her father and other family members. After her father's death, she moved to Texas and died there.
