About Andreas Christian Andersen

Andrew Christian ANDERSEN was born in Copenhagen, Denmark to Andreas Christian ANDRESEN & Ellen Margrete Nielsen. The Family immigrated to New Zealand in the late 1850s. When Andrew's parents died he was bought up by the Maori [indigenous people of New Zealand] and was a fluent speaker of the Maori language. Andrew married Annie Maria BARTLETT 26 October 1891 in Otaki, New Zealand and they had 11 children. A plaque was laid in September 2006.
