J. P. Allison ... a native of Virginia whence he came to Mississippi in young manhood, settling in Attala County, where he was married. He responded to the call for troops by the Confederate government when the country became involved in war in 1861. Other than that, he devoted his life to planting. His first wife bore the maiden name Sarah Overstreet and their children were seven in number, namely: James, Tobe, Joseph William, Thomas, Amanda, the wife of John Md[?], and Elizabeth.
