Andrew 'Andy' Jackson Sanders

Andy owned & operated, later with his son Jewll, a general mercantile store on Main Street in Steelville, Missouri.The sign on the store read "A.J. Sanders & Son, dealers in everything," an apt description of the general stores of the time. Whils Andy ran the family business, Nellie was always a helpmate and one of those marvelous Missouri cooks whose meals live in memory. The store operated until the Great Depression of the 1920's, when it was closed and members of the family moved to Chicago.Andy, Jewell and Herman all worked for the Shell Oil Company in Chicago for many years, with the Herman Hamiltons later moving to Kentucky. Andy & Nellie retired to Steelville.
