Andrew Jackson Harper, Jr.

Andrew Jackson Harper, Jr. married three times and had nine children with his wives, two of whom were sisters. First he married Jane Idella Mayfield and they had a daughter Laura Janie "Gigi" in 1882 and another daughter, Ada Idella in 1884. Andrew's wife, Jane Idella, died six years later. Their daughter Ada Idella died in 1904 when she was only 20 years old.

Andrew married second Eulalia Lela Harrell and they had Bertha Helena in 1891, Floyd Lynwood Harper in 1892, and Jackson P. Harper in 1896. Sadly Eula passed away the following year in 1897, according to Find A Grave.com.

Andrew married third wife, Eula's younger sister, Ludie Lee Harrell, born in 1871, and they had four children, including one set of twins, but only their last son, Loyce Lee Harper, born in December of 1900, survived childhood. They were listed in the 1900 U.S. Federal Census for Van Zandt County, Texas as follows: Andrew J., 44, Ludie, 28, Jane, 18, Ada, 16, Bertha, 10, Floyd, 8, Jack, 3, and Graden, 2 months old, born in March of 1900. Sadly, Ludie Lee Harrell Harper died in January of 1902 about a month and a year after her son Loyce was born in December of 1900.

However, according to the 1910 census for Van Zandt County, Texas, Andrew, 53, was living with wife, Eula, 45, and children, Floyd L., 19, Bertha, 20, Jackson, 13, and Loyce, 5. The census record showed that Andrew had been married three times and Eula one time. Could the Find A Grave memorial for Eula Harrell Harper have an incorrect death date of 1897, or was this another woman named Eula? Based on her age of 45 years old in 1910 Eula would have been born in 1865, which was the year that his second wife Eula was born.

Andrew was working as a farmer and his son Floyd as a farm laborer. Andrew died 16 years later on October 31, 1926, at the age of 70 years old.
