About Andrew McFarland Mitchell
Andrew M. Mitchell of Waterloo was stricken with a heart attack, Wednesday, August 10, 1938, just as he had stepped on the running board of his car when he collapsed to come to Armstrong to visit their daughter, Mrs. George Beck. Neighbors carried him into his home, but a physician said death had been instantaneous.
Andrew McFarland Mitchell was born in the province of Quebec, Canada in 1861 [June 1]. He was married in 1888 to Miss Jennie Carrol. They farmed for many years near Armstrong before moving to Waterloo in 1917. They would have celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in December.
He was a member of the first Presbyterian church of Waterloo and the A.F. & A.M. Lodge of Armstrong and the Modern Woodmen of America.
He leaves to mourn his death his wife, two daughters Mrs. Andrew Rath of Dubuque and Mrs. George Beck of Armstrong, also four grandchildren and a large number of friends.
