About Andrew Reed

Andrew, son of Joseph, married Theodosia Bowes for (his) second wife. He settled in Trenton, N.J. He was a merchant, and moved to Philadelphia, where he spent several years in active business life, but finally returned to Trenton in 1752. He died Dec. 16, 1769. Children, Joseph ( with Theodosia) Bowes.

Andrew and Theodosia Reed are buried next to Ben and Sarah Franklin in the Christ Church Burial Ground at 5th and Arch Sts. in Philadelphia

  • "Andrew became very eratic in later years and alienated the townspeople of Trenton. In letters between Bowes and Joseph, they discussed that problem how to prevent him coming to Philadelphia. It's likely he suffered some form of dementia."
