Andrew Piper Semple was born on March 1, 1869 in Stonehouse, Lanark, Scotland, son of Robert and Mary (Pyper/Piper) Semple.
In their Semple family, Andrew is the youngest brother of George (c.1847); John (1849); Margaret (1851); Robert (1854); Janet (1856); William Pyper (1859); James (1862) and Agnes Sandilands (1865) Semple.
On 8 November 1910, Andrew Piper, age 41, married a “professed” cook named Catherine "Kate" Martin Hunter. At the time of their marriage, Andrew was working as a foreman joiner and they were both living at Stonecraig Cottage in Newmains, Cambusnethan, Scotland. They did not have any children.
On 25 April 1951, Andrew Semple, age 82, died in Carluke, South Lanarkshire, Scotland. He died from chronic bronchitis, which he had suffered for 12 years, and senility. Two months later on 31 July 1951, his wife, Kate, died at the County Hospital in Cleland, North Lanarkshire, Scotland, from a cerebral thrombosis and heart failure.
