' Sir James Stewart, 1st of Baldorran was born between 1395 and 1426. He was the son of Murdoch Stewart, 2nd Duke of Albany and Isabel of Lennox, Countess of Lennox.1 He died before 18 May 1451 at Ireland without legitimate issue.2
' Circa 1425 he fled to Ireland, after the execution of his father and brothers. He avenged his family byu burning Dumbarton at the head of a band of highlanders, killing its Keeper.3 Sir James Stewart, 1st of Baldorran also went by the nick-name of Seumas Mor (or in English, Big James).3
