Angela P. Haug, 96, died Tuesday morning, September 19, 2006, at Crestview Manor nursing home in Seneca. She was born January 20, 1910, at Seneca, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Emma Lauer Karnowski. She was educated at Sts. Peter & Paul Grade School and High School, where she graduated in 1928. Angela was the salutatorian of the class. She worked with her parents on the Karnowski dairy farm on the northeast edge of Seneca. They sold bottled milk in Seneca, delivered in a horse-drawn milk wagon. On February 27, 1930, she married Alban M. Haug at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. They lived and farmed north of Seneca until 1941 when they moved to a farm south of Baileyville. They retired and moved to Seneca in 1973. They celebrated their 50th and 60th wedding anniversaries. Her husband, Alban, died October 15, 1990, and sons, an infant, Joseph, and Eugene also preceded her in death. She remained active and in her own home until April 2002. She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church, St. Ann's Altar Society, and a former member of Sacred Heart Church and the Altar Society. Angela served as president of the Baileyville High School Mother's Club and was a Democratic precinct committee woman. She was the Vice-Chairperson of the Nemaha County Central Committee for many years. She was also a member of the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital Guild, played in the Hospital Bridge & Pitch Club, and was the historian for the GFWC Seneca Woman's Club. Until recently, she played with the DLD Bridge Club where she was a charter member in 1935. Angela was a kind, gentle woman and a friendly considerate lady. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed visiting and playing bridge. Survivors are a daughter, Janice "Jan" Bergman of Seneca; a son LeRoy; 10 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. Besides her husband and sons, she was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mildred Holthaus; and three brothers, Peter, Linus, and Joseph Karnowski. Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday 10 AM September 23, at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. The burial will be in the church cemetery.
