Angel Kupane (1966 - 2006)
Brief overview:
Angela (40), daughter of Boikie (David) Kupane owner Kupane Funerals, was stabbed in the neck in the kitchen of the family home in Wendywood, Sandton, on Friday 6th April 2006. Two males broke into the house and used a kitchen knife to stab Angela. When her father heard her screams, he ran to her aid and one of the attackers stabbed him in the face.
The perpetrators made Boikie open the safe, and they stole cash, jewellery, laptops, television sets, and radio systems. He managed to get his gun and fire off shots at the attackers as they were fleeing.
Tebogo Kgasapane (27), who was awaiting trial for a house robbery in Sandringham six days after Angela's murder, was arrested after this incident when the home owner pressed the panic alarm. It is suspected that Kgasapane's accomplice (only known as Bra Willie) was murdered in August 2006, in what could have been a gang-related assassination.
Angela's mother, Sophie, testified in court at the beginning of February 2007, how she watched her family being "butchered" in front of her by intruders.
No further updates regarding Kgasapane's sentencing can be found.
