At the close of the Win-the War meeting on Saturday evening last in the Public Hall Mr. Angus Bell, an old resident of Euroa and Clyde Lewis, youngest son of Mr. E. Lewis, enlisted for active service.

Euroa Advertiser 8 June 1917
At the Fire Brigade Hall on Monday evening a farewell social was tendered to Privates Angus Bell and Clyde Lewis, both of whom were home on final leave. There was a large attendance of friends of both soldiers, despite the wet night. At an interval in the proceedings each soldier was presented with a wristlet watch, the presentations being made, in a characteristic speech, by Cr. J. Platt. Mr. John Teal (who read a lengthy
list of his employees who had volunteered) and several others, also spoke. Both recipients feelingly acknowledged the compliment paid them. Dancing was then resumed, and continued until the early hours, the musicians being Mrs. Pusterla (piano) and Mr. T. Mc Nay (violin). Private Angus Bell who has resided .here all his life, leaves behind him in Euroa a wife and seven children; while Private Clyde Lewis has just passed his
eighteenth year.

There was a very large gathering at the Euroa railway station last night when Temporary-Sergeant B. Turner("Buster") 8th Battalion, and .Pte. Angus Bell, received a right royal welcome-home, at the hands of the townspeople. The Town Band played, speeches were made, and several rounds of cheers given, the soldiers
being afterwards motored home. Brian looks well, despite being twice wounded while serving in France. His term at the war was about three years. Pte. Bell, "Dad" of his football days, looked well, and carries the "tan" of service. His son Charles, is still on active service.
