About Ann Anderson
Birth also seen as 1682 England.
The following information was provided by Alex Thompson:
In 1970, Clare Engstrom compiled early Orange County data pertaining John, his widow and children. The following is from her report:
Notes on Ann (Moore) Anderson: Minutes of Orange County Inferior Court
Fol. 61 -- p. 122: Court of September, 1757: "Mrs. Ann ANDERSON's license to run a Ordinary renewed. Her securieies: Thompson LAPSEY [LAPSLEY] and James TAYLOR.
Fol. 65 -- p. 129: Court of December 1757: Deed from James TAYLOR to ANN ANDERSON for 409 acres. [Details not available.]
Fol. 16 -- p. 169: Court of December 12 1758 at the Courthouse in Corbintown: "Ann ANDERSON's Ordinary license renewed. Securities: Alex. MEBANE and Wm. REED, Esq.'s"
The widow Ann thus apparently ran an ordinary [inn] in Corbintown [later Hillsborough] through 1757, 1758 and perhaps 1759. She is thought to have died prior to 1760, and certainly prior to the 1779 Tax list. There is no probate procedings for her, so she distributed her estate to her sons prior to death.
