From page #100 in "History of Christmas Island Parish":
James settled at Beaver Cove, and married Catherine McSween, daughter of Hugh McSween, a descendant of “Fear Scalpaidh, anns na h-Earradh” whose daughter Ann composed that touching lament for her lover who was drowned while the preparations for their marriage were being made.
The issue of the marriage of James McNeil (Hector) and Catherine McSween was:— Hector, Jonathan, Stephen, Peggie, Ann and Hugh
Stephen, commonly known as“Stephain Beag” was well and favourably known throughout the county. He taught school for some years before he became a merchant. He was a great lover of the poetry and history of Scotland, and it was the general opinion that he knew more of the geneology and history of the Chiefs of Barra and those of the adjacent islands than any other man in Cape Breton.
He settled at Beaver Cove, and married Ann, daughter of Rory McNeil (Big), Iona.
Issue:— Mary, Bessie and Christie
Mary is Sister Mary Stephen of the Convent at New Aberdeen.
Bessie married John R. Mclsaac, Sydney.
Christie married Ronald Nicholson, Barrachois.
