Ann Cornelia Parrish was born on May 2, 1855 in Bulloch County, Georgia, daughter of Ezekial and Sarah H. (Jones) Parrish.

In 1872, she married Hiram Monk Mathis. The 5 children born into their Mathis family are Sarah "Sallie" Ida (1874), Infant (?), William "Bud" David (1876), Alice Geneva (1878) and Harriet "Hattie" Elizabeth (1880) Mathis.

On April 6, 1912, Ann C. (Parrish) Mathis, age 56, died with burial in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Valdosta, Lowndes County, Georgia.
