Ann Newby (Mayo) was born on January 28, 1714 in Perquimans Precinct, Albemarle County, North Carolina. Her parents were Edward Mayo, Jr. and Mary Mayo Newby (Clare), (twin).

Ann married Rev. Samuel Newby in 1729 in Perquimans County, North Carolina as his first wife. Samuel Newby was the son of Gabriel Newby and Mary Toms, and was born about 1708. Together they had the following children:

  1. Jemima Newby;
  2. Isabell Newby;
  3. Edward Newby.

Ann died 1739.
After her death, he married Elizabeth Sanders, daughter of Benjamin Sanders and Ann Elliott Sanders.
