Samuel Robinson Pratt was born in China Street, Lane Delph. Fenton.
on 25th October 1817.
The family bible states that Sam Pratt was also from China Street.
BUT where did "ROBINSON" come from ?

There is a burial Record at St Mary's Bucknall for a Lydia ROBINSON Born 1772
46 at death 1818.

I have pondered the question for some time as to where the middle name ROBINSON came from and why did so many successive baptisms include the name. The first usage was for Samuel Robinson PRATT born in 1817.
There are very few matching records for a prospective mother for Samuel and there is no trace of any church record of Samuel’s birth.
Therefore Lydia could be a good possible. With her death in 1818 Samuel senior may well have then gone on to form a relationship with Ann HOLMES.
The only factors I can see which do not fit well with my assumption is that if she was the mother then she was 44 years old and Samuel PRATT senior would have been 32 at the time of Samuel Robinson PRATT’s conception. So that makes Samuel senior 12 years younger than Lydia.
Also the first name Lydia was not recycled by the next PRATT families.
