About Ann (Relph) Albury, Free Settler "Woodbridge" 1838

On monday 7th May 1838 John Albury and his pregnant wife Ann boarded the Woodbridge and under govenment immigrant scheme they sailed from Portsmouth and Crowe for a new life with there children, Charlotte, Mary Ann, John, Henry, Abel, Margaret, Mercy and William.

With several passengers suffering from gastritis and general exhaustion, Eight children died on the voyage, But another two babies were born. Apart from a stop at Cape Simons Bay they made no contact with any other vessels during there 131 day trip and the Woodbridge arrived at Port Jackson Sydney on Saturday 15 September 1838.

Ann Albury was pregnant with the couples ninth child (Robert) at the time of their departure for Australi



Emigrated on board the "Woodbridge" arriving 15/9/1838 in Port Jackson NSW Australia.

A commemoration plaque on the headstone of John and Ann commemorates the 150th anniversary of the arrival in NSW of John and Ann on 15 September 1838.
