About Ann Eliza ‘Nancy’ White


Ann Eliza Peyton, daughter of Craven Peyton and Ann West, was born in Loudon County, Virginia, sometime between 1776 when her Uncle Thomas West wrote his Will and 1780 when her father wrote his.

She married West Alricks, son of Harmanus Alricks and Anne West, on 21 February 1794 at the Mount Zion Presbyterian Church, Mc Intyre Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, United States; marriage recorded at Frederick, Maryland. They were divorced on 9 January 1809 in Virginia.

The children of West Alricks and Ann Eliza Peyton were:

  1. Marguerite Peyton Alricks, born 11 October 1799. Married Samuel Jaudon.
  2. Ann Peyton Alricks, born 1801. Married John E. Frost.

She lived on C Street in Washington, D.C.

In 1826, she sued her siblings in Chancery Court.

In November 1832, Mrs. Ann E. Peyton became the second wife of Judge Hugh Lawson White (1773-1840) of the Tennessee State Supreme Court and U.S. senator from 1825 to 1840.
