About Anna Barbara Dull
She was an unwed mother who killed her baby and buried it on her father Peter Doll's property. She was arrested and taken to the Lichtenberg Castle, the Imperial Castle of Nannstein, the most extensive site in the province. Lichtenberg means "Light on the Mountain." She was held prisoner until she was executed by beheading. Because hanging was cruel in Germany at this time, most women were beheaded as a mercy shown them. The condemned woman would be allowed to sit in a chair and the person would behead her with a sword from behind. As a personal note, I am her seventh great niece Elizabeth, and I would think this would be much worse and messier.
