Biography

Anna Barbara (Quattlebaum) Dailey has German Roots.
Birth
Anna Barbara Quattlebaum was the daughter of Petter Quattlebaum and Anna (Herkendall) Quattlebaum. She was born on April 5, 1733 probably in Kettwig. [1] While it is not known for sure the exact location the family came from, there are indications that Kettwig was their ancestrial home. [2] (page 12) The location is often given as Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany due to the fact that English colonial officers loosely categorized immigrants from Germany as Palatinate. The English also referred to them as "Dutch". This may be the source of some ancestors as being referred to as Dutch. [3]

Residence
Anna Barbara's family immigrated to Philadelphia in October of 1736. On October 19, 1736, thirty- seven families "from the Palatinate" (a total of 110 people) appeared at the courthouse in Philadelphia according to the colonial records of Pennsylvania. [4] The name of Petter Quattelbaum appeared in the list of those who took the Oath of Allegiance. Petter's family included his wife, Anna Barbara, and three young daughters: Gertraud, Maria Catherina, and Anna Barbara, There was also perhaps an infant son, Mathias. Also with the family was Maria Quattelbaum, who is believed to be Petter's mother. [1] The family spent some time on the "frontier' of Pennsylvania including Oley township, now in Berks County. [5] When her brother, Johannes, was born in 1742, the family was in Williams Township, now Lehigh County. [6] The family later returned to Philadelphia. and her father died at Kinsingtown, Pennsylvania in 1748.

Marriages
On January 3, 1749, Anna Barbara Quattlebaum married Hans Eberhardt Kunkel [2][7] in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. All of the Quattlebaums were recorded as belonging to the Reformed Church, the Calvinist church of the Palatinate. Hans was a Lutheran. [8]

In 1751, Anna Barbara married Alexander Dailey. [9][10]

Death
She passed away about 1780.
