About Anna Catharina von Marillac de St Julien

In 1902 she was among the burghers of Thaba N'chu who filed claims for Boer War compensation. Source: Transvaal Archives CJC Vol 1630 Ref. 199.

She died in 1905, a widower, leaving a grandson - the son of the late Charles Godfrey Ernest Marie De Marillac , "young Charlie", and an estate worth 3,639 pounds. This was divided among her 2 daughters, Annie and Pauline (both BAUMANN), and her grandson, "young Charlie", each receiving 1,201 pounds. There was a legal fuss about the guardianshuip of young Charlie - his Aunt and Uncle, Annie and William Peter BAUMANN, did not want custody of him to go to his mother, Edith Amelia, nee BARTLETT, as she was in a frowned apon relationship with Herbert Cecil WARD, whom she married in 1902.
