Notes from conversation with cousin Bertha Strecker (1852-1921) : " Do you remember the small house, #256 Crown street ( now known Lawrence Street)?   My Great Grandmother, Anna Elizabeth Kern, lived there during the Revolutionary War.  She drove the Hessians off the fence when they tried to steal her cabbages."
