Is this Barbel actually Anna Meyer (who also married Jörg Müller Kendig/Kundig)? Yes. I have looked through hundreds of trees as well as search for documents online both for her parents and for Jörg. Out of all the information online, I could only find a couple of references to Barbel Meyer. Most (98%) list Anna Meyer (wife 1) and Barbel Huffelberg (wife 2)as his only wives and it is further "supported" by the mass majority of Meyer family trees. I speculate that someone morphed the names of the two wives into one (Barbel Huffelberger + Anna Meyer = Barbel Meyer). J Wile

The Kundig genealogy is a complicated matter, loaded with many errors and contradictory evidence. See "The Genealogical Record of Rev. Hans Herr.." which is also riddled with errors, in the early generations, as are most of the other sources of it's time. These errors, and some very inventive ways to try to solve them, continually find their way onto the Internet. I can tell you that the Rev. Hans Herr married Barbel Kendig, not Elizabeth Kendig. Barbel was the daughter of Jorg Kundig and Barbel Schaufelberger. Jorg was the son of Peter Kundig b. about 1565 in Switzerland and his wife Ursula Miller. The family of Hans Herr and Barbel Kendig was really messed up. In the "Pennsylvania Mennonite Heritage", a magazine published by The Lancaster Mennonite Historical Society, 2215 Millstream Road, Lancaster, PA 17602, in the January 1992 edition, is an article by Jane Evans Best; ' Martin Kendig's Swiss Relatives ' that includes the Herr family. Jane Evans Best is one of the few persons to have actually spent an enormous amount of time in Switzerland going through the archives of the original vital records. Her research shows that the Rev. Hans Herr, b. 1639 probably married Barbel Kendig, not Elsbeth Meili Kendig. Barbel was the daughter of Jorg Kundig and Barbel Schaufelberger.
