The Question of Identity

Anna Porterfield, here treated, is identified as Anne Porterfield in the Catalogue of the Exhibition Illustrative of Old Glasgow but she is Anna Porterfield in her marriage record, and in the baptismal records of her three children.

Anna Porterfield is said to be the daughter of Alexander Porterfield, brother of the Laird of Duchall. Catalogue of the Exhibition Illustrative of Old Glasgow

Anna Porterfield married James Peadie of Ruchill, younger. Exhibition: 27 The marriage was booked on 5 June 1679, at Glasgow in Lanarkshire, Scotland, but they were married at Killellen in Renfrewshire, which was presumably the bride's home parish. The marriage record reads as follows: "James Pedie [and] Anna Porterfield married at Killellen".
