Anna Delana7 Hazen (John0, Hezekiah 5, Thomas 4, Thomas 3, Thomas 2, Edward1), born at Pomfret, Vermont, 28 October 1823, died there 28 December 1894; married at West Hartford, Vermont, 19 Oct. 1847, Hon. Joseph Henry Pratt, born at Northampton, Massachusetts, 15 February 1827, died at Hartford, 11 December 1906, son of Francis and Roxanna (Strong) Pratt.

Mr. Pratt was a farmer in Pomfret for three years after marriage, then ten years in Norwich. He was Representative for the latter town in 1862; returned to Pomfret and represented that town, 1868-69.

Children (Pratt), the first one born at Pomfret, the others at Norwich:

i. John Francis, b. 18 June 1848, res. Seattle, Wash.; m. at San Francisco, California, 21 October 1879, Carrie Churchill Crittenden, b. at San Francisco, 18 June 1855. He was graduated at Dartmouth College (B.S., 1871), and became a field officer of the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey. Child: Carolyn Churchill Steele (Pratt), b. at Seattle, 10 July 1891; m. Lt. Theophilus Steele, U.S.A.

ii. William Henry, b. 23 Oct. 1852, d. at Kenilworth, Ill., 5 Sept. 1914; m. at Mt. Vernon, Ohio, 8 Oct. 1890, Elizabeth Hogg Devin, b. at Mt. Vernon, 5 Aug. 1861, daughter of Hon. Joseph Chambers and Ella Isabel (Curtis) Devin. He was graduated from Dartmouth College (B.S., 1874). For a time he taught at Dayton, Ohio. In 1880-81 he was assistant engineer on the Toledo, Cincinnati and St. Louis Railroad. In 1882 he became principal assistant engineer of the Chicago and Indianapolis Railroad, but in 1883 returned to the Toledo as its chief engineer of construction. In 1884 he entered the service of the Morse Bridge Company at Youngstown, Ohio, and was assistant supt. until 1887. He then became engineer of construction for the Edge Moor Bridge Company, and in 1889 shop supt. for the Mt. Vernon Bridge Company. He was manager of the latter company, 1890-95, when he engaged in private business as a contracting engineer. In 1898 he became manager of the Universal Construction Company in Chicago, Ill. When this company was merged with the North Works of the Illinois Steel Company, he became general supt., holding this position until his death, being also president of the Illinois Steel Warehouse Company. lie was a man of strong character; a thirty-second degree Mason. Four children.

iii. Arthur Eugene, b. 27 Sept. 1854; m. at Woodstock, Vt., 3 Feb. 1897, Effie F. Thompson, b. at Woodstock, 30 July 1868, daughter of George E. and Ellen F. (Kingsley) Thompson. He was a farmer at the homestead in Pomfret, until his father bought the Jacob Dutton farm in Hartford, where he later lived. Two children.

iv. George Hazen, b. 1 Mar. 1858, res. Chicago, Ill.; m. Seattle, Wash., 14 Apr. 1891, Emma Eliza Clarke, b. at Xenia, Ill., 1 June 1867, daughter of Thomas Dowling and Frances (Lacey) Clarke. Three
cliildren.

v. Elizabeth Roxanna, b. 15 Dec. 1862, d. Jan. 1914; m. at Sharon, Vt., 29 Mar. 1905, Charles Hazen Savage, b. at Hartford, 8 Mar. 1874, son of George Harper and Patience (Miller) Savage. They bought and settled on the Harper Hazen farm.
