Anna Marie (Wagner) Reitz was born on Monday, August 21, 1884 at Medviditsko-Krestovoi-Buekar (Germany), the daughter of Henrick and Charlotte (Farmbrugh) Wagner. She died on Friday, July 3, 1981, at the Rest Haven Nursing home (sic) in Broken Bow, Nebraska at the age of 96 years, 10 months, 12 days.
Anna was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church in the Village of her birth near the Volga River and it was here that she was united in marriage to George Reitz on January 25, 1905.
In August of 1906 George and Anna came to the United States, then in October of 1908 they became citizens of the United States.
Their marriage was blessed with ten children, four sons and six daughters.
They lived most of their married life in and near Chester, Nebraska except for seven years near Hardy, Nebraska, going back to Chester in 1926.
Anna was a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Chester. Through her last years she has been in a care home, First (sic) Parkview Haven at Deshler, and for the past ten years at Rest Haven in Broken Bow.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George in 1937, two daughters, Henrietta Reitz Fischer and Lena Reitz Doan and an infant son, Donald.
She is survived by seven children: Albert Reitz of Superior; George Reitz of Springfield, Oregon; Marie Reitz Hussey of Yerington, Nevada; Clara Mae Reitz Yost of Payetta (sic), Idaho; Frieda Reitz Ready of Broken Bow, Nebr.; Edna Reitz Rossmiller of Omaha, Ne., and John Reitz of Pleasanton, Nebr. Also, sixteen grandchildren, thirty-nine great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral service was held Tuesday, July 7, 1981, at 2:00 P.M. at the Williams Funeral Home in Superior with Pastor Kenneth Benson of Hebron officiating. Mrs. Glenda Thayer was the organist with grandsons serving as casket bearers: Larry Nelson, Jim Nelson, Jim Reitz, Lloyd Rust, Dane Walker and Ralph Ready Jr. Interment was in the Hardy Cemetery at Hardy, Nebraska. The Williams Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
